Moderation Policy

Effective June 1, 2026 · Terms of Service →
This policy is not legally binding. It describes how HiFi Registry generally approaches community moderation and is provided for informational purposes only. It does not constitute a contract, create any legally enforceable rights or obligations, or establish any service-level commitments. All moderation decisions are made at HiFi Registry's sole and absolute discretion, and HiFi Registry reserves the right to deviate from, modify, or waive any provision herein at any time without notice. Nothing in this document limits the rights reserved to HiFi Registry in the Terms of Service.
Moderation at HiFi Registry is transparent by design. We believe accountability and honesty build better marketplaces. This document describes our general approach to listing standards, account actions, and forum conduct.

Listing standards

Listings on HiFi Registry are expected to meet these community standards. HiFi Registry may remove listings that, in its sole judgment, do not meet them:
  • Accurate condition grade. The 1–10 condition score should reflect the item's actual state. Significant discrepancies between the stated grade and actual condition may result in listing removal or account action.
  • Defect disclosure. Known cosmetic or functional issues, repairs, missing accessories, or modifications should be disclosed in the listing description.
  • Accurate photos. Photos should represent the actual item being sold. Stock photos or photos of a different unit are not appropriate.
  • Correct category. Items should be listed in the most appropriate equipment category.
  • Accurate specifications. Model year, version, and revision should be accurate if stated.

Account actions

The following describes the general range of actions HiFi Registry may take in response to policy violations. All actions are at HiFi Registry's sole discretion. Actual responses may vary based on context, history, severity, and other factors HiFi Registry deems relevant. HiFi Registry is under no obligation to follow any particular sequence or threshold described here.
Warning
Minor violations
For less serious or first-time concerns, HiFi Registry may issue an informal notice to the account holder. Notices are logged internally and are not published publicly.
Suspension
Repeated or serious violations
HiFi Registry may temporarily suspend an account for listing misrepresentations or other conduct that undermines marketplace integrity. During a suspension, existing listings may be delisted. Suspended accounts may contact HiFi Registry to discuss the matter.
Permanent ban
Fraud or bad-faith conduct
HiFi Registry may permanently ban accounts for fraud, identity issues, ban evasion, or other conduct that seriously harms buyers, sellers, or the community. HiFi Registry's determination of what constitutes such conduct is final.

Off-platform communication

Users may, at their own discretion, share personal contact information — including email addresses, phone numbers, or other details — with other users at any time. HiFi Registry does not prohibit off-platform communication.

However, if users choose to take a conversation or transaction off the HiFi Registry platform, they do so entirely at their own risk. HiFi Registry has no jurisdiction, authority, or obligation with respect to any communication or transaction that occurs outside the platform and will not moderate, review, or take any position on it — regardless of how or when the off-platform communication began. All forum moderation applies only to content posted within the HiFi Registry platform.

Ban registry

HiFi Registry may maintain a public log of permanently banned accounts. Any such entries reflect HiFi Registry's internal determinations only and are not a legal finding of wrongdoing. Entries may include:

  • Username (not legal name or email)
  • General violation category
  • Date of action

HiFi Registry makes no warranty as to the accuracy or completeness of the ban registry and reserves the right to add, remove, or modify entries at any time.
