Understanding the market

Half of recorded transactions fall between $625 and $999. The full observed range is unusually wide — the highest recorded price is 8.8× the lowest. A spread that wide usually means the recorded sales are not strictly comparable: different configurations or finishes, units sold for parts or with cosmetic damage, or listings where the model name is shared across more than one variant. Treat the middle range as the useful signal and the extremes as outliers worth investigating before you price against them.

What buyers should know

Inspect drivers and surrounds before anything else — foam surround rot is the most common failure on older floorstanders and is not always visible in photos. Ask whether the cabinets have been re-veneered, whether the crossovers have been recapped, and confirm both cabinets came from the same production run. Shipping is the other major cost: large floorstanders often need freight rather than parcel, and original cartons materially affect both safety and resale.
